Co-Founder ~ A Table Reading Series ~ May 2020 - Present
What Is Disruptive Compassion?
Disruptive Compassion is a table reading series I Co-Founded alongside Julia Marie Black in May of 2020 to create a space for artists to read scripts, tell stories, and pursue the important conversations that follow.
Myself and Julia select the plays, assemble the cast, and curate the discussion following the reads. In December, Violet Stephania joined the team as the Head of Public Relations.
What started off as myself alongside a handful of other Fredonia students/alumni has grown to include over 100 different readers from across the country. We've read a range in works including Shakespeare, Greek, Chekhov, adaptations, contemporary plays, brand new plays, and screenplays. Interested in the specific scripts? Scroll down to see a full list!
There is no rehearsal or mandatory preparation for our reads. Our actors often cold read and often meet new people for the first time during the read. Despite this, every read we sit back and watch magic happen before our eyes.
